What is Online Network Marketing?

Network marketing is just an all-embracing term that is used to describe a number of different types of online marketing. Essentially network marketing is a business opportunity that could embrace elements of affiliate marketing, pay per click marketing and email marketing. The best thing about it is that it is a good job that can be done at home.
Usually the set up for this type of home-based business opportunity is minimal. The hardest part of the entire business for network marketers is usually deciding what to sell, rather than how to sell it.
Before you decide to become a network marketer you need to conceptualize how your online selling campaign is going to manifest itself. To determine this, consider developing a web site that has the following three crucial elements:
- 1. Functionality and supreme customer service (this means having a sleek and user friendly website)
- 2. A purpose those customers and other marketers need or appreciate (don't sell ice to an Eskimo is the marketing principle behind this.)
- 3. Multiple sources of income from business opportunities (or "Don't put all of your eggs in one basket -Diversify!)
Without these three principles in place, online marketers don't make that much money.
You are halfway to business success once you decide what you are going to sell.
There are really only three things that marketers can sell on the Internet.
- 1. Goods. These are real items that you would normally find in a retail store. This might require that you pay for shipping and handling and the leasing of warehouse space.
- 2. Services. This includes all the services you would normally expect to be sold by marketers in the non-virtual world.
- 3. Information. This is everything that you would find in a newspaper, magazine, periodical, library, audio store or bookstore. The network lingo for this is informational products.
Once you have decided what you want to sell, whether it is goods, services or information or some combination of all three options, you are ready to contemplate the type of business opportunity that you want to exploit.
Ultimately, the best network business opportunity is the one that is best for you personally. Many marketers make the mistake of choosing a business that has no potential for real growth. As a marketer it is also important to think big. A business opportunity that is not designed to expand probably never will in terms of profits.
Deciding on the online business opportunity that is right for you has a lot to do with the perimeters of your budget, time and capabilities. For example, don't get into a business that requires graphic design if you can't draw. Don't sell items if you live in a bachelor apartment with no storage space.
This type of advice might seem obvious, but many work at home opportunism can seem very attractive to new marketers who are convinced that there are short cuts or ways to make profits without the necessary resources and skills. Pick something that you consider to be a good service or product and spend all of your efforts on marketing that and don't be a sucker for every marketing trend that pops up.
